Equipped by the Spirit

As a follower of Jesus, you are equipped by the Spirit of God for this very season.

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

2 Timothy 1:6

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.

2 Timothy 1:8

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

2 Timothy 1:9-10

And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day. 13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

2 Timothy 1:11

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (NKJV)

2 Timothy 1:7

Supernatural Ability

Secure Identity

Mental Stability

1. Through the Holy Spirit’s power, we receive supernatural ability.

…the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you…

Romans 8:11b

2. Through the Spirit’s love, we can find strength and rest in a secure identity in Christ.

Don’t let anyone look down on you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again;rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

Romans 8;15-16

3. Through the Holy Spirit, we can experience mental stability.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8:6

Your life is always moving the direction of your strongest thoughts.
