Set Sail: Moving with the Holy Spirit
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
John 16:7
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
John 3:8
Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. 4 The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
Acts 13:1-4
1. Longing: Let’s long for the Holy Spirit and His presence in our midst.
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting…
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.Psalm 63:1-3
Am I spiritually hungry today for God’s presence?
2. Listen: Let’s take time to listen to His voice.
…the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)
